About the event

Who:

Lukas Chávez, PhD Scientific Director, RCHSD Pediatric Neuro-Oncology Molecular Tumor Board

Session Topic:

Pediatric Brain Tumors: Molecular Diagnostics and Translational Research at Rady Children’s Institute for Genomic Medicine

When:

Wednesday, January 24, 2024 | 3pm PST

What You’ll Learn:

This seminar will provide participants with a critical understanding of the methods available for analyzing tumor biopsies to enable precision cancer diagnosis and individualized treatments. Methods include genomic, epigenomic, and transcriptomic characterization of tumors and high-throughput cancer drug sensitivity testing. Learning objectives include:

  • Objectives and workflow of a molecular tumor board;
  • Sequencing and imaging methods available for identifying DNA mutations, structural variants, and fusion genes in tumor biopsies;
  • High-throughput drug screening in patient-derived tumor cells to determine individualized drug sensitivity.
