Physics Beyond

Are you a STEM enthusiast or aspiring mathematician or physicist looking for a community of like-minded people? Are you interested in exploring nature from a researcher's point of view? Are you interested in high-quality gifted programs to stretch yourself? Then PhysicsBeyond is for you! Join PhysicsBeyond's discord server here and follow PB on LinkedIn to discuss maths and science and get updates on its programs.

In the past, Physics Beyond has run a highly-selective and intensive 2-year maths program called BeyondResearch. Currently Physics Beyond is running a 2-month program Introduction to Quantum Research for Girls, as well as a course Physics From A Researcher's Point of View on YouTube. In the future, PB may host programs such as a Linear Algebra Introductory Course and Introduction to Machine Learning.

Programs are delivered (fully or partially) by the researcher and science educator with 8 years of experience - Dr Filip Bar - who is interested in bringing gifted education to high school students. Instead of the dogmatic traditional approach to maths and physics, Dr Bar focuses on imparting the creative process of discovery to his students, many of whom are aspiring mathematicians and physicists like you.

WORLD HEALTH INSTITUTE

Across the globe, 600 million people are affected and 400,000 die annually due to food safety contamination. The detection technologies for harmful substances such as bacteria, toxins, and metal ions are primarily controlled by large corporations and government organizations. Unfortunately, there has been a lack of recent investment in these technologies, resulting in a gap between production and consumption and a disparity between personal safety and societal standards. To address these issues, WHI is focused on increasing awareness, developing an affordable and accessible lab-level biosensor, and launching a smart application to tackle food safety concerns.

In addition to food safety, food security remains a pressing global issue, with hunger and malnourishment being major causes of death. WHI addresses the challenges on the demand side by organizing food and supply drives and maintaining a close partnership with the LearningPlanet Alliance (affiliated with UNESCO) and the FAO, aiming to achieve UN SDG2 of Zero Hunger. Furthermore, there is a lack of institutions and recognition for public health in many countries. WHI aims to raise awareness about general health issues that transcend academic boundaries.

WOMEN IN STEM

The Women in STEM (WiSTEM) initiative is a source of inspiration and empowerment in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Carolyn He, the president for 2023-2024, emphasizes the importance of perseverance, networking, and taking risks.

Carolyn's involvement with WiSTEM began unexpectedly, underscoring the role of chance in our lives. While cleaning out her spam inbox, she stumbled upon an old email about becoming a WiSTEM ambassador. This serendipitous encounter serves as a reminder to seize seemingly insignificant or delayed opportunities.

STEM4SUD

Based in Naples, Italy, STEM4SUD is a long-term, multi-partner initiative aimed at preparing the next generation of future problem solvers, innovators and entrepreneurs in Southern Italy and beyond. Reaching disadvantaged communities and children, STEM4SUD's approach is based on cutting-edge platforms and an international collective of young researchers (The NanoPiccola Brigade).Stem4Sud, promoted by a group of associations and businesses led by the Compagnia dei Figliuoli and the Accademia di Gagliato Globale, also includes the participation of companies that for years have put young people, training and scientific and technological innovation at the center of their action. The project will start with a survey that will be carried out on a sample of ten thousand young people from the South. between nine and fifteen years old "The starting point and protagonists of the project - we read in a press release presenting the event - are in fact boys and girls of school age. Stem4Sud intends to address them directly to understand the reasons for the lack of attraction for STEM subjects and highlight the most effective ways to guide and support them in that direction. The investigation will be carried out through a survey created in the form of a game developed in collaboration with Play Verto, the leading platform for the fun collection of data used for large-scale global surveys.

The Active Youth started at the beginning of 2021 as a small group of students from Barcelona who wanted to make a change and contribute positively to society.

Wanting to encourage others to do the same, we decided to create an organization that would make it easy for youth to share ideas, learn, and take action.
